Places of Worship in Muscat

Freedom of worship is allowed in Oman and the reviewing body is the Ministry of Awqaf (charity) and Religious Affairs. It is not the Islamic Affairs Ministry as it handles affairs to do with Christian, Hindus, Jews, Buddhists etc as well as Islam.

Mosques
There are many mosques scattered all over Muscat. Most areas have a mosque. Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, a beautiful example of Islamic heritage, is one of the few mosques which allow entry for non Muslims. Apart from being a place of worship, it also acts as a centre for scholars and houses an extensive Islamic reference Library.
